Important Facts about HPV from the CDC

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently published a study on Human Papillomavirus or HPV that was quite eye opening.  For example, HPV is the most common Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) in the US.  There are more than 40 strands of HPV, and while the disease can resolve in a few years, persistent infections with HPV can cause cancer and other benign diseases.

There are 13 forms of HPV that have been designated as human carcinogens.  From this group, HPV types 16 and 18 are responsible for more than 70% of cervical cancers around the globe.  Genital warts are a known manifestation of HPV, and of the various types HPV 6 and 11 are responsible for 90% of those symptoms.

It is illegal in California to knowingly have intimate relations with another person without warning them in advance if you know that you have HPV.  If you have received HPV from a person of substance or wealth it is possible to prove they were the source of your infection, and hold them accountable for it.  I have helped many STD victims in my 40+ years as an injury attorney, and I invite you to contact me for a free consultation at (949)305-1400.  It won’t cost you anything out of pocket, as I work on a contingency fee basis.
