The sequence of events began on the 4th of July when a 2016 Hyundai Sonata driving northbound on Santiago Canyon Road around 12:40 am lost control, ran off the road and after impacting a tree returned to the roadway in the southbound lane. CHP officers at the scene did not cite the driver of Elantra, noting “existing roadway conditions” left the driver of the Elantra unable to avoid the collision.
