Fatal Car Accident in Costa Mesa Involving Uber Driver

An Uber driver was struck by another driver in Costa Mesa which resulted in the death of one of the passengers in the Uber vehicle. An Uber driver went to pick up two 29 year olds leaving a bar in Costa Mesa, when the Uber driver’s Ford Escape SUV was t-boned struck by a BMW 540i. The accident occurred on Baker Street. The driver of the BMW 540i was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, and it is possible that additional charges may be added due to the death of the passenger in the Uber vehicle. The driver of the Uber vehicle passed a field sobriety test and was hospitalized due to serious injuries sustained in the accident.

Sometimes, even when you attempt to do the safe thing by calling a taxi or Uber in order to avoid drinking and driving, tragic accidents like this can happen. In this case, the two passengers leaving the bar in Costa Mesa were responsible by calling an Uber so that they would not have to drive. However, another alleged drunk driver crashed directly into their Uber vehicle, which tragically resulted in the wrongful death of one of the passengers.
