CDC Reports Dog Bites are up Nearly 90% in Past 15 Years

The Centers for Disease Control reports that dog bites nationwide have increased nearly 90% over the past 15 years.  Here in Orange County we average 3 to 5 dog bites each and every day.  25% to 30% of these result in a trip to the emergency room, and injuries – roughly half of which are children under the age of 9.

Children tend to be bitten on the face, neck and upper torso.  Injuries can be life threatening, and many parents wonder how to recover from the experience and bear the expense of the ongoing medical treatments.  A large percentage of these cases involve dogs who belong to friends and family members of the victim.

My name is Rivers Morrell and I have more than 40 years of experience in these cases throughout Orange County.  Dog owners in California are strictly liable for the actions of their pets, and these cases are covered by homeowners and renters insurance.  We are sensitive to the underlying relationships, however, we provide the recovery your family needs to help your child to recover from what has happened and move forward with their life.
