Many are Opposed to $215 Million USC Settlement Offer for Sex Abuse Claims

Many attorneys for the hundreds of accusers of Dr. George Tyndall say the $215 Million USC settlement offer for sex abuse claims is far from satisfactory.  Rivers Morrell, a Los Angeles and Orange County sexual abuse, harassment and injury attorney with more than 40 years of experience agrees.

“While it is a positive step for USC to make an initial offer in the case of Dr. George Tyndall it is far from satisfactory,” said Rivers Morrell.  “The University of Southern California has failed to disclose all it knows about the doctor’s actions and claims by our clients here in Southern California.”

The proposed settlement would apply to cases filed in a class action lawsuit which only applies to a small portion of the hundreds of accusers seeking action against Dr. Tyndall and USC.  “I am advising my clients to avoid the federal class action case, and pursue relief in Califonia’s Court System instead,” Mr. Morrell continued.  Rivers Morrell has more than 40 years of experience in sexual abuse, harassment, rape and STD transmission cases.  His clients have received millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts over the years.

“Each client is unique, and she needs to be heard,” said Mr. Morrell.  “It takes a tremendous amount of courage to make the call to our office, but they always feel much better after we speak and they learn of the genuine options available in their case.  Pursuing an action against Dr. Tyndall or any perpetrator actually restores our client’s empowerment and sense of well-being.  It also helps to begin the healing process so they may move forward with their life.”

Dr. Tyndall is accused of sexual abuse between 1988 and 2016.  Hundreds of former and current USC students have alleged it was routine for him to take inappropriate photos, make crude remarks, caused them to remove all of their garments without any medical gown for privacy and/or groped them or made unwanted sexual contact while attempting to pass it off as “standard medical treatment.”

Dr. Tyndall has denied all allegations and has yet face criminal charges for his actions.  The Los Angeles law enforcement authorities and the Los Angeles County District Attorney are still reviewing their options in this case.

It is not too late to pursue a claim against USC and Dr. George Tyndall.  The $215 Million USC settlement offer for sex abuse claims is simply a first step.  We invite you to review the strong recommendations of our clients and the legal industry and contact the Law Firm of Rivers Morrell or call (949)305-1400 to speak with Rivers personally for a private, confidential and free consultation.
